In the Beginning

In 1929, the Game Commission began sending out a monthly service bulletin to the field force to keep them informed about what was happening in other parts of the state.  They asked the men in the field to send in notes about what was occurring in their area, and they would compile the information and send it out as the service bulletin.  It became popular with not only the men in the field, but the Harrisburg office was also receiving requests from the public to have a copy.  Because of this, the Monthly Service Bulletin was changed to the Game News, and the commission began selling subscriptions to the magazine. Here are two pages from one of the earliest Monthly Service Bulletins.
