Games People Play
When I was young, my parents would pile us five kids in the car and drive the back roads. We’d play games like “cows,” where you’d get points for being the first one to see a cow. As we got further out into the mountains, the game would change to “deer.” You could also get points for seeing a barn with “Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco” painted on the side. Here’s a story about how roadside ads like that became part of the games we played.
